Not Just Weight Loss, But Fitness

Over the past few years, Mimi Vanderhaven has been kind enough to write about my personal fitness business located in Fairlawn. However, given that it is now about three weeks into January and many people are finding it difficult to stick to their New Year’s resolutions, I wanted to make a personal appeal written by my own hand.

Please take the first step to a happier life and call me. I’ve been training and coaching people successfully for over 30 years and I know that New Year’s resolutions rarely work, especially in the long run.

Most people who walk into my facility do so because they’re tired of trying to get in shape by repeating the same methods that have failed them for years. Many of my clients caught a glimpse of their own mortality and realized that they don’t want to spend the second half of their life overweight, out of shape, and unable to do the things they enjoy.

You can be healthy and trim. You can tighten up and be fit. You can be happy.

But there is no short cut and it isn’t easy. I grow increasingly frustrated with companies selling quick-fix gadgets and easy weight loss gimmicks that promise to get you looking like the world-class athlete demonstrating the product being peddled.

Their story is the same: “It’s easy, you get quick results, and all you have to do is buy our stuff.” The fact is it is not easy or fast. It takes sustained, intelligent hard work and a plan for long-term success. That is the simple reality.

And it isn’t just about weight loss. It’s about fat loss and muscle maintenance. Muscle burns more calories and promotes the elimination of fat.

When you lose weight in the form of muscle, your ability to burn fat is compromised.

There are three basic components to being physically fit: resistance training, cardio conditioning, and smart eating habits. Period.

So, please, stop measuring your success simply by weight loss that cannot be sustained by “dieting.” Instead, give me a call and let’s make a plan. I’m a 56-year-old adult and I understand the challenges of life. I’ve experienced them. Get on track and get the help you need to succeed, including a true commitment, regular appointments with me, and the accountability that comes with both. Together, we can get you in the best shape of your adult life.
